South Korean startup CLEVI Co., Ltd. (Clevi), which has emerged as a game changer in the country’s AI industry, has proven that South Korea can develop AI using its own technological capabilities.

It has begun an open beta service for ‘Ivy’, a massive generative AI developed in-house using LLM (large language model) technology. Until now, South Korea had failed to achieve notable results in the AI market amid the dominance of OpenAI in the United States and DeepSeek in China.

However, CLEVI’s official launch of its own massive generative AI, ‘Ivy’, using LLM (large language model) technology has led to recognition that South Korea also has the ability to develop AI using its own technological capabilities.

As a high-performance, low-cost model, Ivy provides outstanding effectiveness and performance, with reasoning, specialized agent capabilities, and a high instruction-following rate. Since it offers powerful features such as △real-time learning and adaptation △multi-data processing △code interpreter △expert model generation △agent support systems, it can be used in a wide range of fields, from individual users to enterprises.

CLEVI CEO Lee Hwan-ho stated, “The development cost for this model was approximately KRW 1.5 billion, while operating costs average around KRW 10 million per month,” adding, “This is expected to become a breakthrough that can solve the AI cost issues enterprises are concerned about.” He emphasized, “Because the ‘Ivy’ model offers high efficiency and high performance, it can solve the problem often cited as a shortcoming of generative AI: ‘PoC is easy, but Complete is not.’”

To minimize AI development costs, CLEVI introduced innovative technology that efficiently manages the development process by applying automated container-based training node deployment technology.

Of particular note is that Ivy recorded high scores in various benchmark tests against OpenAI and DeepSeek (△AIME 2024: 81% △MATH-500: 98.6 △SWE-BENCH: 51.1 △MMLU: 91.2).

Meanwhile, CLEVI has made the Ivy app platform publicly available, allowing users to sign up with minimal personal information amid growing concerns about personal information leaks and security as the use of AI Assistants expands. Public institutions and companies can install it on-premises to suit their user environments, and it is being recognized for resolving security concerns.

Ivy is available for download from the Google Play Store, corporate websites, and the Ivy download page.
