Startup CLEVI Co., Ltd. (Clevi), which has emerged as a game changer in Korea’s AI industry, has proven that Korea can also develop AI using its own technological capabilities.

It has begun the open beta service of ‘Ivy’, an ultra-large generative AI developed in-house using LLM (large language model) technology. Until now, Korea had failed to achieve notable results in the AI market amid the dominance of Open AI in the United States and DeepSeek in China.

However, CLEVI’s official launch of its own ultra-large generative AI model, ‘Ivy’, using LLM (large language model) technology has led to recognition that Korea, too, has the capability to develop AI through its own technological expertise.

Ivy, a high-performance, low-cost model, delivers outstanding effectiveness and performance, with reasoning, specialised agent capabilities and a high instruction-following rate. As it provides powerful features including △real-time learning and adaptation △multi-data processing △code interpreter △expert model generation △agent support system, it can be used across a wide range of fields, from individual users to enterprises.

CLEVI CEO Lee Hwan-ho said, “The development cost of this model was approximately KRW 1.5 billion, while the operating cost averages around KRW 10 million per month,” adding, “This is expected to become a breakthrough solution to the AI cost concerns that companies are facing.” He further emphasised, “As the ‘Ivy’ model offers high efficiency and high performance, it can solve the problem identified as a drawback of generative AI: ‘PoCs are easy, but completion is not.’”

To minimise AI development costs, CLEVI introduced innovative technology that applies automated container-based learning node deployment technology, enabling efficient management of the development process.

What is particularly noteworthy is that Ivy recorded high scores in various benchmark tests against Open AI and DeepSeek (△AIME 2024: 81% △MATH-500: 98.6 △SWE-BENCH: 51.1 △MMLU: 91.2).

Meanwhile, CLEVI has made the Ivy app platform available for registration with minimal personal information, amid growing concerns about personal information leaks and security as the use of AI Assistants expands. Public institutions and companies can install it on-premises according to their user environment, and it is regarded as having addressed security concerns.

Ivy can be downloaded and used from the Google Play Store, company websites, and the Ivy download page.
