Hello, this is Clevi. 🤖

On November 7th, we participated in the Citizens' Day event held at Chuncheon City Hall Square with our humanoid robot.

I'd like to share some fun and touching moments we experienced while running our booth. 😊

After setting up the booth and standing the robot up, people passing by were already looking and asking, "What is that?"

Even before the demonstration started, I could feel all eyes on us!

"Does it really move?"

Once the event started, we began the demonstration in earnest.

When I put on the control device and raised my hand, the robot raised its hand in the exact same way!

"Oh? It really moves!"

From that moment, people started to gather one by one.

I was a bit worried about explaining teleoperation technology.

Since it's a difficult technical term, I thought it might be hard to understand. So I tried to explain it as simply as possible.

"This robot follows my movements. It learns my actions in real time and replicates them exactly!"

The children watching clapped and said, "Wow!" and the parents were amazed and took pictures. It was so rewarding to see. This is why I do this job!

"So this is Physical AI!"

That's right! You understood it perfectly. Since the explanation got through, I got even more excited and explained in more detail.

"This technology is really useful in dangerous work environments. You can send robots instead of people into places like radioactive zones or fire sites. People can control the robots remotely from a safe place to perform hazardous tasks."

Everyone was amazed by the handshake function!

The most popular feature during the demonstration was the AI recognition handshake function.

"We tuned an LLM (Large Language Model) and installed it as on-device AI in the robot. You can think of it as a small AI brain inside the robot!"

"If you use this in factories, won't people lose their jobs?"

"I understand your concern. But the purpose of this technology is not to take away people's jobs, but to replace tasks that are difficult and dangerous for humans. Our goal is to reduce the burden on workers and increase safety."

Sharing our vision for the future

During the demonstration, I also talked about the future technologies we're developing.

"In the future, we're developing robots that can make decisions and act on their own based on AI agents.

For example, even if you don't command 'stand up the fallen chair,' the robot will see the situation and stand the chair up on its own."

AI Avatar Vision Declaration Performance

Mayor Yuk Dong-han had a performance where he conversed with an AI avatar in a virtual space.

It was directed by artist Peony, and the moment when reality and virtuality met was quite moving.

It was a stage that symbolically showed Chuncheon's vision of becoming an AI city.

Other AI experience booths

There were several other AI experience booths next to ours. Voice recognition AI conversation experiences, AI image generation, and more... It was great to see citizens directly experiencing AI technology and being amazed.

Performance programs

D.N. Girls team's folk song performance: It was refreshing to see traditional folk songs reinterpreted in a modern way
Chuncheon City Symphony Orchestra performance: It was a wonderful performance that conveyed the dignity of classical music
Traditional percussion group 'Taeguk's' solta performance: The sound of the drums was so grand it resonated throughout the square

The finale citizens' chorus was really... It was moving to see so many people singing together.

The meaning of 'AI Leading City Chuncheon'

The overall theme of the event was "AI Leading City Chuncheon." What left an impression was Mayor Yuk Dong-han emphasizing that "AI should be for the citizens."

That's exactly the philosophy we at Clevi are developing our technology with. Not technology for technology's sake, but technology that helps people and improves their lives. I felt proud that Chuncheon's vision and our company's direction matched perfectly.

I really want to support Chuncheon's plan to incorporate AI into all fields such as administration, education, welfare, and transportation!

Wrapping up the day

We met many citizens, and many of them showed interest in our robot technology. Some asked for business cards, some made business proposals, and some asked, "Can we introduce something like this at our company?"

But what I liked most was that more people had expectations rather than fear about the technology. I keep thinking about the moment when a child who was afraid of the robot smiled and waved.

What we felt

The voices of citizens are important

We were able to hear a variety of reactions, from concerns about "losing jobs" to expectations like "Can we use this at our company?" I think these voices are the driving force for us to create better technology.

It's important to explain things simply

No matter how good the technology is, if it's hard to understand, it's useless. From now on, we need to think about how to explain technology more easily and in a friendlier way.

Technology is ultimately for people

The moment when a child who was afraid of the robot smiled and became friends, the moment when a grandmother worriedly asked, "Does it eat?"... These moments made us think again about why we develop this technology.
